Thanks to all of you who helped this past Thursday! It takes a lot of people to help with our Italian celebrations, please consider yourself thanked for being there as well as those of you who helped, could not have done it without all of you!
It was announced that this past Thursday was our last social to be held at the Eck center. Our new home will be the hall at St Timothy located at 1070 Thomas lane Columbus, Ohio 43220. You can get there from East North Broadway as well as Kenny Rd. We think it will prove to be a better location for us, just off or 315. Further, the kitchen is right there just off the hall, on the same floor and will be much better for the cooks since they will be able to enter after 1:30 instead of 3:00. The equipment is much newer [actually they have an eight burner stove] and better, which will allow the cooks to prepare and cook in a more timely fashion. The delay caused Thursday was just that ,older equipment and the kitchen being inconveniently located on the basement floor and not being able to enter till after 3:00 It was a great meal, entertainment was great and the camaraderie exemplified the spirit of our heritage and friendships.
The Italian Heritage Summer Festival
It was also announced that The Italian Heritage Summer Festival is real and will take place in Dublin,Ohio on the same ground as the Irish festival. The dates are in the books and the festival will happen in July on the 13,14,15 in the year of our Lord 2018. We will need volunteers to help make this a most successful event. We have been working on this for over 3 years and with our members and everyone’s support, it will happen! We have the admission team put together and will be headed up by our own member Tom Sabatino. We have the entertainment headed up by member Ray Massa, also Joe Scalissi will be one of the entertainers doing his Dean Martin skits and singing his all time classics. Nick and Karen Valentine will be heading up the volunteers and will be manning that tent.We will NOT be cooking pasta or baking pizza, vendors will be doing that. We want as many Italian vendors as possible. We will be pouring Italian beer, wine and selling water as well as dry goods. We will need volunteers for those chores to work the beer trucks, wine booths and the dry goods tents.
We plan to have a program and will be selling ads for the book, we will need volunteers for that as well. As you can see this is huge undertaking but will be very rewarding for us as we work toward our common goal.
We will have festival meetings from time to time beginning in January and everyone will be invited so please watch your emails. By the way I had 3 people last night ask me about either being a vendor or knew of people who would want to be a vendor. Several of you ask to help and ask to be involved and we are thankful for that, again watch for those emails!
By the way, the City of Dublin is really excited to host our event and St. Timothy is happy to have us! We are doing ok!
Grazie e mille
Buon Natale e tutti!
